According the Louisiana Department of Economic Developement, Louisiana was ranked third behind California and New York in film production. This boost is largely due to the recent film tax incentives offered by the state, making it more affordable to film a project. Louisiana's economy has been positively effected as the amount of in-state spending continues to rise.
The purpose of these tax incentives is to increase employment opportunites in the state, increase film productions in Louisiana, as well as increase the amount of trained labor in the entertainment field. Louisiana's Tax Incentives allows investors to receive 10% of the investment that is spent paying individuals employed by a production. If the investment is greater than $300,000, then investors can receive a tax credit up to 25%. Louisiana also provides tax incentives for sound recording projects. If the investment is between $15,000-$150,000, the investor may be able to receive a 10% tax credit. For further information please visit www.lafilm.org to access the official documentation.
Louisiana not only offers tax incentives, but beautiful and diverse shooting locations for any projects.
Film makers can find a variety of landscapes and scenery including alligator marshes, rivers, swamps, historic districts, famous cemetaries, jungle terrain, universities, military bases, and much more! 4-Show.biz provides helpful lists of Louisiana resources to encourage projects to come to Louisiana!
